Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site - Park Road off Rte. 9W Stony Point, NY 10980. 845-786-2521 Stony Point Battlefield serves as the only Revolutionary War battlefield in Rockland County. The battlefield is the location of a successful midnight assault lead by Brigadier General Anthony Wayne and his American Light Infantry in 1799. There are annual re-enactments and a wide variety of daily programs and special events. Daily events include: military exhibits in the museum, a slide show explaining the battle, self-guided outdoor sign tours of the battlefield, and musket, camp-life, and cooking demonstrations by staff members in period dress. On weekends, at 3pm you can see them demonstrate the firing of a 6-pounder garrison gun, weather permitting. Also nearby is the Stony Point Lighthouse which has been restored and tours are available on weekends or by appointment. Stunning views of the beautiful Hudson River can be seen from the lighthouse lawn.
