Sometimes I’m in the mood for something a little different for dinner. The old standards just don’t cut it on some nights. So, on those days I set down the tomato sauce and go out to some of my favorite ethnic food restaurants.
I have several different restaurants throughout Rockland that I love but here are my favorites.
1) Thai Food- Thai House Restaurant in Nyack. This small yet fantastic restaurant has been my personal favorite for years. The soft music and intimate decorations make the Thai House’s atmosphere almost as good as its food. The genuine cuisine makes this hidden treasure a must.
2) Chinese Food- Golden Mushroom in Upper Nyack. The Golden Mushroom may be a favorite hangout for Nyack High School students but their fantastic service doesn’t stop there. Where I’m just dropping in for some lo mien or getting my favorite tuna roll, I have always enjoyed my experiences at Golden Mushroom.\
3) Japanese Food- Little Tokyo, West Nyack Palisades Mall. You wouldn’t expect to find such great quality in the food court. But when it comes to Japanese, Little Tokyo is the only place I want to go. Whether I’m shopping or on my way to a movie, the only place I ever stop is Little Tokyo when eating at the Palisades mall.
4) Spanish- San Juan Café in Nyack. Now called the Sean Juan Café is located in the heart of my favorite town in the world. The fantastic portions of savory chickens and beefs over hearty beds of rice make this a lunchtime treat for anyone looking for a full stomach and a light wallet.
5) Mexican- Hacienda Restaurant, Spring Valley. Right of Route 59, Hacienda is completely hidden and even more surprising. This small restaurant has the most amazing Mexican food I’ve ever had (and I’ve had more than my fair share). With their impressive helpings of rice, beans and delicious guacamole, Hacienda is worth searching for!
6) Indian Food- Spice of India in Nyack. There is not one thing that beats the incredible prices and vibrant decor in Spice Indian Restaurant. Formerly known as Natraz, Spice has redone their interior and their excellent curries and my personal favorite Tikki Masala are as good as ever.
